An upright, clump-forming herbaceous perennial with simple leaves and masses of showy golden-yellow flowers with a raised chocolate brown centre that turns yellow as the anthers mature, much like a large daisy flower, from mid to late summer on tall, erect stems. Tolerates a wide range of planting conditions but Helenium 'Wesergold will do best in full sun in fertile soil that does not get too dry - mulch well if in doubt. Great for bees and butterflies. Final height will about 75cm. In common with other Heleniums, 'Wesergold' will form bold clumps after 2-3 seasons, which can lifted and split in spring to provide fresh, new and addional plants - for free!
Dead-heading, of cutting flowering stems for use in the house, will prolong the flowering season even further, making 'Wesergold' one of the mainstays of the mid to late summer garden, providing a lovely fresh splash of colours when other herbaceous perennials are beginning to fade.
