Very showy lily, growing wild in the mountains of central China, growing to as much as 1.5 high, possibly more, with orange flowers spotted black. The petals recurve (i.e. bend backwards), and eventually resemble those of the more widespread Turk's-cap lily. Prefers moist, fertile soils rich in organic matter; cut plants back only after leaves and stems turn yellow. Fully hardy.
