Japanese maple. An extremely elegant, mound-forming, small deciduous tree.
The deeply cut leaves turn golden yellow, orange and red in the autumn, Plant in a spot that is sheltered from cold winds; dappled shade preferred although full sun and reliably moist soils will also produce great results.
Acer palmatum var. Dissectum has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is fully hardy. Final height and width will be about 2m, and normally they are significantly wider than they are high, forming a flattened 'dome' shape.
