A deciduous shrub with spreading habit. Slender racemes of fragrant violet flowers are produced during September and October on the current season's growth.

Vitex agnus castus is a Mediterranean native, and is also found in south west and Central Asia. It has been grown as a garden plant in the UK since the 16th century. It can be regarded as reliably hardy but is best planted against a south facing wall in a sheltered part of thre garden. flowers are produced especialy freely during a loing hot summer - perhaps we will grow this plant more often as global warming starts to seriouly kick in? Height will be in theregion of 1-2m
