Indian Horse Chestnut. A magnificent specimen tree. Young foliage flushed bronze, matures to deep green and turns orange and yellow in autumn.
Very large panicles of pink-white flowers in early summer. Perhaps most noteworthy is the fact that Aesculus indica is not susceptible to the leaf miner that has invaded large swathes of the Uk and which is so disfiguring all our resident horse chestnuts. It is therefore quite likely that Aesculus indica will replace the more traditonally planted Aesculus hippocastanum in the future as a large garden or park tree.)
Aesculus indica is fully hardy. Final height will be in the range 8-15m, depending on soil fertility and moisture availability.
